About Sparrow Wallet
Sparrow is an open-source, Bitcoin-only desktop wallet aimed at people who want to see exactly what their transactions are doing. It shows every UTXO, lets you label and select coins before spending, and builds partially signed transactions (PSBT) that a hardware wallet or an offline machine can sign.
It connects to your own node — Bitcoin Core or an Electrum server — rather than a company's backend, and it supports single-signature and multisig setups along with Tor. The trade-off is scope: no altcoins, no mobile app, and a level of detail that a casual holder does not need.
Pros
- Full UTXO view with labelling and coin control
- Connects to your own Bitcoin node instead of a vendor backend
- Hardware wallets, PSBT and multisig supported
- Open source, with Tor support
Cons
- Bitcoin only — no other chains
- Desktop only, no mobile app
- The level of detail is more than a casual user needs
